Obituary Notices

An obituary notice is an article in a news publication that reports the recent death of an individual, and will normally be accompanied by a description of the deceased’s life and (if known) information about the upcoming funeral. This notice can also be referred to as an ‘announcement’.

Traditionally, there are two types of notices that are generally available for obituaries.

  1. Known as a death notice, this doesn’t include most biographical details and under some circumstances, may be a legally required public notice.
  2. A paid for paid memorial advertisement, normally in a local paper is usually written by family members or friends, the Maddock team are here to help with this if required.
